The remodel of the Gordon Food Service store in Taylor, Michigan was the first partnership between Gordon Foods and CD Barnes Construction. As with many of our big retailer renovations, our team worked day and night during the project while the store remained open for business. The Gordon Food Service store received new ceramic tile flooring in the entryway and restrooms, new doors and frames, new stain on the concrete floors, new paint on the interior and exterior, new canopies and EIFS at the entry, new walk-in freezers, and coolers, and upgraded fire protection, heating and cooling, refrigeration, and electrical systems. As part of the remodel, the store also received a new chicken rotisserie room and a new popcorn room.

Reference: “CD Barnes is one of the top general contractors that I have dealt with over the years. These open store remodels are a completely different animal that require around the clock attention. With these remodels, communication is of great importance. They relay information to the GFS team in a timely manner which allows me to properly communicate and plan with the GFS Senior Leadership Team in regards to their expectations for the projects. The CD Barnes team has done a great job of navigating through the various equipment delays due to supply chain issues on the projects that they have completed for me. With the latest remodel that was completed, some of the electrical gear was delayed multiple months. Due to the communication around this delay, I was able to relay the information to the GFS stakeholders, so everyone involved had the right expectations for a project turnover date.”
