Kiddie Academy, a national franchise system of early learning centers, hired CD Barnes Construction as their General Contractor to build their new 10,000 square foot childcare center in Wyoming, Michigan. The new facility features nine age specific classrooms that include custom millwork and individual cubbies for each child, a lobby, reception desk, owner’s, and director’s offices, a kitchen equipped with commercial appliances, and a staff lounge. As with any childcare building, safety is top of mind when designing the facility. Hence, the early learning center includes bullet resistant film on windows, key card entry systems, child finger-safe continuous hinges on all doors, alarmed gates and fencing that surrounds the entire building and playground areas, and half-height walls and doors in classroom bathrooms. The 5,600 square foot playground is comprised of three separate age appropriate areas divided by fencing with state-of-the-art artificial turf that sits atop a self-draining, interlocking, cushioning system
