We, at CD Barnes Associates, believe that business and community belong hand in hand. We believe that business should not only contribute to economic impact, but that our influence should also benefit the local community. We have watched our community grow around us. Founded in 1954, CD Barnes Associates saw a Grand Rapids paying 22 cents at the pump, booming in furniture production, and represented by Congressman Gerald R. Ford. With roots extending far and wide throughout the greater Grand Rapids area, we pride ourselves on our longevity and continual local support.

In 1999, CD Barnes Associates unexpectedly lost its last member of the Barnes family. Spencer Barnes passed suddenly after a life-long history with diabetes. Previously, in 1990, Todd Oosting received word that his wife, Whitney, was also diagnosed with this life altering illness. It was after these events that CD Barnes Associates knew they must take up this cause as one of their own. CD Barnes Associates has a long standing history with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, with whom Whitney Oosting served as a board member from 2001-2003. CD Barnes Associates continues to support this worthy cause through its annual sponsorships and continual contributions.

Community is said to share intent, beliefs, resources, needs, and risks. It is because of these shared traits that CD Barnes Associates will continually support and meet the needs of our home: Grand Rapids, MI.
